Villi, TF3DX the designer of the Arctic King antenna worked JA7FUJ last night on 160 meters from his car.
This is the first time such a QSO takes place between Iceland and Japan.
To put this in perspective, with 100 W feeding the mobile whip – even perfectly tuned, only 1 W is radiated.
To compensate for the low efficiency of a mobile antenna, Villi drove to the sea shore where he was able to take advantage of the excellent conductivity of salt water. The noise from the city was also reduced considerably at this location.
Congratulations OM !

Great to wrk you /M on 160. Your signals were steady at 599! Good luck 73 SM6CPY Carl
I heard this morning (0112Z) TF4M working on 160 mtrs. I did not get a response and I have been suspecting my antenna ,a dipole, with 100W input is acting like a dummy load. Now I get the idea that the radiated power is poor. Now how to measure the radiated power is the next question.Hope to work soon
The band was very noisy tonight and in addition, I was listening mainly towards north America. I did hear and work another VU station though.
I will certainly make an effort to listen in this direction. Hope to work you soon.
