Perseus_1MicroTelecom have released a new software version for the excellent Perseus SDR.

Perseus_2

They also released a new demonstration version which enables playback of Perseus spectrum files without a Perseus SDR present.

Direct CW Skimmer is finally on the horizon and a WWW web server function is being developed.

I made a 10 minute recording of the 160m band with my Beverage antenna towards JA.

The file (300MB) may be downloaded here.

I recorded another file of 160m during my operation last night.  Unfortunately conditions were poor and I was only able to make a  handful of contacts.   Still you may observe the strong-signal handling and clear reception of the Perseus and listen to the activity on the band while I was operating with 1KW into the Arctic King, only 700 meters away from my Beverage antennas.

You may download the file from here: 600MB

UPDATE 27DEC2009:   After finishing my operating in the Stew Perry Distance Challenge, I made a short recording (400MB) of 160m in daylight.

Glad to welcome you as my first Perseus subscriber !
Let me know if you have any special wishes, times and directions to listen to, although the files are rather large.
I have asked if it was possible to reduce the size of spectrum being recorded to reduce the file size, but apparently the minimum spectrum recording is 100kHz.

    Hi Thor,

Seems you enjoy your Perseus as I do. Nice website and antenna park! You put a lot of effort in them. I’m curious if you listen to the TA MW stations on your antenna’s, seeing such a quiet locaton?

      hello Ron,

I think the Perseus is a fabulous receiver and it has some great features. But support and development seems to focus entirely on SWL and MW DXing, not Amateur Radio.

I was a MW DXer from 1972 to 1984 when I received my Amateur licence, and I have QSL cards from hundreds of AM stations in the US, Canada and Alaska.

My favorite station was KJNP, North Pole, Alaska because of their excellent signal – not their program content :-)

No I haven´t listened for MW stations since my main interest now is 160 meters while these fantastic conditions last. No doubt my large Beverages perform beautifully on MW as well.
