I snapped a few photos of my beautiful Birta today while we were doing some antenna work.
I have 4 of these couplers made by E.F. Johnson, in my possession.
My guess is that they are meant for M.F. and may have been designed to feed a 500 kHz Vertical with open wire feeders.
Perhaps I will put them into service again one day, if TF amateurs receive access to the 600 meter band.
I have a few of these high power relays, but the relay voltage is unknown and it is not marked.
The relay coil measures 10 ohms.
I intend to use them for Rhombic direction switching.
Measurements with a variac revealed that the relay switches around 60 VAC and is comfortable at 110VAC drawing 0.8A without coil heating.
My cats visited today. They have been banished from the house after some “incidents” and live in the barn.
Two years ago my two cats, Brandur and Mýsla, behaved badly inside the house and were banished from the premises. Since then they have lived in the barn and existed on mice and the occasional meal from me during winter. They have become very reclusive and have not been seen for months on end. Today they honoured me with a visit and were treated with tuna from a can.

Most of the cabling work is done. Electric power has been installed, 2x50A via shielded cable and over 20 circuit breakers. The Matrix Strip Line Antenna Switch has been connected, and receive antenna cabling is close to finished. The RX antenna patch panel is installed and connected. 8 receive antenna cables are routed from the patch panel into the Radio Shack and will be connected to a K9AY RAS8x2 receive antenna controller.
I tasted Shakshukah for the first time last February on my visit to Israel. This dish in it’s original form is simply fantastic and I especially enjoyed the green version made with Spinach and Garlic – incredible !
I prefer to put the pan into the oven after putting the eggs into the pan. 225° C for 10 minutes works well for me.
Shakshuka lends itself very well to make a delicious dish out of leftovers, what’s even better, it is impossible to get wrong.
Here is a link to a recipe for Shakshukah.
Here are some photos of my own attempts to make Shakshukah with available materials.
I recently acquired a full instruction manual for the Harris RF-350K transceivers.
An ADDENDUM inside the front cover of the manual drew my attention and closer examination revealed instructions on how to program the transceiver for half-duplex operation.

Harris RF-350K
The inability to work stations in SPLIT mode during a pile up, has been one of the greatest drawbacks to using these fine radios on a regular basis, so it was with some excitement that I rushed to test one of my radios to see if this addendum applied to them – yes it works perfectly!
The procedure is as follows:
Programming is exactly as presently described in your manual for simplex operation. For half-duplex channels, install the receive frequency and other instructions exactly as described for simplex programming, but before pressing 2ND and LOAD (to store), continue by pressing 2ND and FREQ. This action will cause the XMIT indicator to blink and the FREQ indicator to illuminate. Enter the desired frequency and then push 2ND and LOAD to store channel data. Continue for channels 00 through 99.
To monitor the transmit frequency of a half-duplex programmed channel before transmitting, press 2ND and FREQ while in normal receive mode. The display will change to indicate the transmit frequency, and the receiver will simultanously switch over to operate on the transmit frequency. Press 2ND and FREQ to “toggle” back to normal operation. The XMIT indicator will stop flashing and the receiver will again operate on the receive frequency.
There are at least two versions of the EPROM program for the radio’s Control Board microprocessor. The version may be determined by examining the labels on the three EPROM chips after lowering the front panel. The EPROMs are 28 pin DIPs located in the upper right corner.
Note that this feature does not work with version 601F EPROMs, but works well with version 604M EPROMs.

Ken, KO6NO makes remote adapter boards for the RF-350K which work very well. Ken can also provide version 604M EPROMs.
K7RDG has Harris manuals and remote control software for the RF-350K on his website.

I took a few photos during the Spring inspection of Otradalur valley.
I am experimenting with High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography and this is the result of today´s session at the beach in Otradalur.
