As I chase the Sable Island CY0 DXpedition across the bands, a perfect arctic storm rages outside.

He was calling for JA/VK/ZL with no takers, so I dropped my call and worked him. Very smooth if I may say so. If only the Aurora would let up so I could hear and work them on 160 Meters…until now no trace of a signal whatsoever….
In between looking for the CY0 DXpedition, I worked a few DX stations.
My goal is to catch them on 160m, everything else is just icing on the cake.
Mike, VK6HD on 17 meters with an incredible signal, I believe the strongest signal I have ever heard from Australia – my rhombics rock !

Start Slide Show with PicLens LiteThe sun has now made an appearance in Otradalur creating beautiful light.
I decided to process one of last night´s photos with a different White Balance. This is closer to the colours I actually see during the shooting of the Aurora. The end result depends on the colour temperature set in the camera (White Balance).
Aurora graced the cloudy Arctic sky along with some freezing fog in the air.
My first attempts at photographing the sky with extremely long exposures, from one hour to several hours.
A slight Aurora is visible and passing cars as well.
These photos are taken in absolute darkness.
Indescribable beauty around midnight…
These are probably the last Aurora photos I will take until next winter.
The full moon causes the Aurora to be less visible.
